В сезоне 1991-92 гг играл в ЦСКА, в 1992-93 гг в "Химике" и в 1993-94 гг снова в ЦСКА. Всего в чемпионатах России провёл 108 матчей и набрал 44 очка (28+16).  В Америке в основном выступал в ИХЛ и практически каждый год в новой команде. Лучший сезон в ИХЛ в 1997-98 гг за команду с Лонг-Бича - 67 очком (33+34) в 62 играх.

Три года, с 1999 по 2002, играл в Германии, с 2003 года снова в США, в Хоккейной Лиге Восточного Побережья.

Vasilyev Named IHL Player Of The Week - Again

For the second time in 3 weeks, Long Beach Ice Dogs LW Andrei Vasilyev won the IHL's Player of the Week honor. This time, he did it by scoring 7 points in 3 games from 3 - 9 Nov. Vasilyev notched a hat trick and an assist in a 5-3 win over Houston on Thursday, 6 Nov. 

Two nights later in a 4-3 victory over Las Vegas, he scored two goals, the second coming on the power play with 14 seconds left to give the Ice Dogs the win. Then, he assisted on the game-winning goal in a 3-2 win over Las Vegas on Sunday, giving him 5 goals and 2 assists for the week and helping the Ice Dogs extend their winning streak to 8 games. 

Previously, Vasilyev was named IHL player of the week for the week ending 26 Oct. In 3 games during that week, the 25-year old Vasilyev recorded 3 goals and 4 assists and was a +3. Vasilyev was named player of the week twice in the 1995-96 season when he played with the Utah Grizzlies. 

This is his first season with Long Beach. He spent most of the past 3 seasons with the Grizzlies. When he wasn't with Utah, Vasilyev played 15 games with the NY Islanders from 1994-95 to 1996-97. In those contests, he totaled 2 goals and 7 points. The Islanders drafted Vasilyev with their 11th choice (248th overall) in 1992.
