Начинал играть в 1992-93 гг в череповецкой "Северостали". С 1993 по 1996 года - в московском "Динамо". Чемпион России 1995 года. Всего в чемпионатах России с 1992 по 1996 года сыграл 143 матча, забросил 49 голов и сделал 35 голевых передач.

В 1996-97 гг кроме 16 матчей за «НЙ Рэйнджерс», провел 61 игру в составе «Бингэмтон Рэйнджерс» (АХЛ), набрав 49 очков (22+27) в 61 матчей. С 1997 по 2000 года также в основном выступал во вторых лигах – в АХЛ и ИХЛ. В 1998-99 гг набрал 65 очков (24+41) в 65 поединках за «Хартфорд Уолф Пэк» (АХЛ). 

В 2000 году вернулся домой, в Череповец. В 38 играх за «Северсталь» в 2000-01 гг забросил три шайбы и отдал три голевые передачи. 

C 2002 по 2005 года играл за московское "Динамо", с 2005 по 2007 в "Ак Барс" Казань, с 2007 в уфимском "Салават Юлаеве". Трехкратный чемпион страны. Лучший сезон в 2008-09 гг, в КХЛ, 34 очка (6+28) в 47 матчах за "Салават".

9 марта 1998 года. Looking For Youthful Infusion, Rangers Recall Lindbom and Vorobiev 

In a move to help spark their fading playoff hopes, the New York Ranges recalled forwards Johan Lindbom and Vladimir Vorobiev from the Hartford Wolf Pack (American Hockey League) yesterday. 

Lindbom and Vorobiev help add some youth to an aging Rangers lineup, something that new coach John Muckler has indicated he would do if he felt it necessary. When the team hired Muckler to replace Colin Campbell as head coach last month, he said he was willing to let the veterans carry the team into the playoffs. Muckler was quick to add, however, that he was not going to give up on youngsters such as Lindbom, who has played well in New York when given the chance. With the Rangers going 2-3-0 under Muckler, including an embarrassing 6-3 loss to the New Jersey Devils Saturday, it looks like some of their young players will get another chance sooner rather than later. 

Lindbom was with the Rangers for much of the early part of the season, but he saw very little of the ice, playing in just 29 games. He was a healthy scratch in the six games before he was sent to Hartford on 3 March. Lindbom has just one goal with the Rangers this season, and that was on 18 November, meaning he has gone a span of 25 games without a goal. Lindbom has been more successful with the Wolf Pack, registering one goal and three points in five games. 

Vorobiev, on the other hand, is making his fourth appearance of the season with the Rangers. In earlier call-ups, Vorobiev recorded one goal and two assists in eight games. He has found success, however, in the AHL. Vorobiev has posted an impressive 18 goals and 24 assists in 47 games and he ranks second in the team with four game-winning goals, the type of play the Rangers have lacked this season. 

Both players should find space in the lineup for the Rangers' second meeting with the Devils in the last week on 9 March, but it is Vorobiev who may end up with more ice time. During the Rangers' practice on Sunday, Vorobiev skated on the second unit with Pat Lafontaine and Kevin Stevens while Lindbom played on the Rangers' checking line.
