Feb. 11--BUFFALO -- The Bruins' plan entering this weekend was for Tuukka Rask to play against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday at the Garden, and for Anton Khudobin to face the Buffalo Sabres last night. When Saturday's game was snowed out, coach Claude Julien had the opportunity to come back with Rask last night. Instead, Julien stuck with Khudobin. He wasn't sorry, as the B's backup delivered a strong 25-save effort in his team's 3-1 victory. "You know what? He's a good goaltender," Julien said. "This just gives Tuukka a little bit of rest here. We're going into Boston Tuesday against the Rangers. He's not going to get rusty from this little bit of time off. I think it's important to also keep Dobie as fresh as possible.He's playing well enough; he deserves to play. "If he didn't play (last night), I don't know when we would have been able to use him again." Khudobin has taken his lack of playing time in stride and tried his best to stay ready. "I felt very good (last night)," he said. "I tried to stay sharp. I try to stop the puck in practice and just be ready every game, even if I'm not playing. I try to be ready like I am playing. (Rask is) playing great. Some days when I'm going to play, I'll be ready. Like (last night)." |
