CALGARY, Alberta -- Since joining the Red Wings four seasons ago, Slava Kozlov has suffered through slumps that caused him to lose confidence and question his talent. 

But Kozlov is showing a new maturity this season, knowing that droughts will end and good things will come to those who work hard. 

Kozlov's patience paid off Wednesday night when he assisted on two goals in a 4-3 victory over the Calgary Flames at the Saddledome, giving the Red Wings their third 5-0-1 streak this season. 

With a goal in Monday night's tie at Vancouver, Kozlov has three points in two games. Already this season he has had two four-game point streaks, and his two power-play goals are just one shy of what he had all last year. 

"He's 25 years old, and that's a great age for a hockey player to establish himself," said Igor Larionov, who played center between Kozlov and Brendan Shanahan. "He has all the abilities to be a big star, and he is starting to take better care of himself, to eat properly. 

"Hockey is a job, and I have told Slava to be good, you must be consistent. I think Kozzie is starting to reach that level."
